Tonye Dokubo has been appointed as BAFA’s interim National Programme Operations Manager with immediate effect.

He will step into the position in a part-time capacity in conjunction with his continuing role as American Football Coordinator at British Universites and Colleges Sport (BUCS).

BAFA’s Central Operations Manager Amanda McDonald said: “Please join me in thanking Tonye for stepping in to support us during this period of transition. I wish to express my gratitude to BUCS for their support and agreement in facilitating this.

“With the post becoming vacant, it has been a priority to identify someone who can provide operational leadership for the National Programme. Tonye will offer dedicated support in this area until the new CEO is selected and in post. All National Programme Contact and Flag Head Coaches and Team Managers, as well as our central operations team will now report to him.”

Tonye has first-hand experience working with the National Programme as a senior member of the GB Men’s Contact squad. He will work with Colin Allen (in his role as Performance Manager for BAFA),  alongside Amanda and Chair, Nichole McCulloch. Following the announcement Tonye said:

“I fully understand the importance of having an established talent pathway and I am keen to supplement on the incredible work that has already been done. I am looking forward to stepping into the role of Interim National Programme Operations Manager. There has, of course been quite a bit of change at BAFA recently, however, American Football in the UK is in a very exciting position.

“During this transition period, there can be no doubting the importance of continuity. That is what I seek to achieve with this role. I look forward to working alongside the Team Managers and Head Coaches of all our National Programme teams to ensure that the strategic and operational plans are implemented.”
