British American Football Association is looking for a Head of Finance – responsible for the financial planning, reporting and financial controls of the organisation.

The 15 hour per week role will report in to the CEO and be subject to regular reviews to assess performance and progress against targets/milestones. it comes with a competitive pro-rata salary and with Employee Assistance Programme, paid holiday entitlement of 28 days (pro-rata) and a contributory pension scheme.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing finance and accounting operations including all banking, payables, payroll and funding processes – including managing 3rd party partners
  • Produce accurate and timely management information for internal and external stakeholders to update them on the financial health of BAFA and to support the strategic objectives and decision making of the organisation
  • Managing BAFA’s strategic planning process by producing budgeting and forecasts
  • Support the CEO by working with the Audit committee and effectively managing next steps
  • Review and implement robust financial controls where required to ensure BAFA has appropriate and effective controls.
  • Oversee all tax and regulatory/compliance requirements
  • Managing the financial reporting to our government funding bodies
  • Managing the year end process working with BAFA’s accountants
  • Support the CEO and Board in developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies
  • Maintaining and strengthening internal controls
  • Adhoc finance queries
  • Carry out all duties in the best interests of BAFA

REQUIREMENTS

  • A qualified accountant with 3+ years of post-qualified experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Ability to prioritise and plan effectively and meet deadlines
  • A problem solver with the ability to think outside the box and act on their own initiative
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications especially Excel
  • Desire and skills to help non-financial volunteers and stakeholders understand the need for good governance in a way that maintains goodwill toward BAFA and the sport and inspires good financial governance from all

DESIRABLE QUALITIES

  • Previous experience of a Head of Finance role
  • Experience of reporting to a governance Board
  • A good understanding of the landscape and challenges of British American Football or similar Sports National Governing Body
  • Experience and Knowledge of Xero accounting system
  • A general enthusiasm for the sport of American Football
