Carlisle Sentinels withdraw from adult contact league

Tuesday, May 14, 2019

BAFA can confirm that due to low numbers and injuries the Carlisle Sentinels have taken the decision to withdrawn from the adult contact league.

In light of low numbers and injuries, Division 2 adult contact team Carlisle Sentinels have taken the difficult decision to forfeit this weekend's game against Dumfries Hunters.

As they already earned a yellow card last year, in accordance with BAFA Competition Rules this second yellow card within a 24-month period means they are automatically placed back into the associate process at the end of this season.

As a result, they decided that it would be better to withdraw from the league now and take the rest of this season to re-group so they can start the associate status next season as a stronger club. All remaining fixtures have been awarded as 1-0 walkover wins to the opposition.

Clive Dobbin, Commission Lead: said: "It’s unfortunate that Carlisle Sentinels have taken the difficult decision to withdraw from the league for the 2019 season. This is the team's second yellow card, so means that in accordance with the Competition Rules they will be relegated to associate status for the 2020 season. We hope that the Sentinels can take this opportunity to re-group and we look forward to them returning in 2020 as a stronger and more sustainable club."
