Great Britain Women’s Flag Football finished fourth at the 2026 IFAF World Championships after a 19-20 defeat to Mexico in the Bronze Medal Game.
Victory for Mexico qualifies the North American nation for LA28’s flag football Olympic debut, while Great Britain finish fourth and must continue their search for qualification elsewhere.
Living up to its reputation as a game of inches, a two point conversion catch ruled out of bounds made all the difference as Great Britain came up just one point short.
With Euro Flag 2025 champion quarterback Jess Allen standing in for 2023 European champion quarterback Brittany Botterill ruled out through injury, Great Britain grew into the game with touchdowns to Emily Kemp and GB debutant Angelica Tait.
A stunning catch by Kemp off a tipped pass late in the game gave Great Britain the chance to go ahead or tie. Allen found Kemp yet again on the two-point try, but the reception was ruled incomplete by mere millimetres.
Great Britain Men took on Brazil in their final game of the tournament and secured 13th place overall with a 33-26 win.
