Last weekend the British American Football community lost a dedicated and valued member. Andy Wain was a passionate official and coach, as well as a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His contribution to the sport and those around him will be greatly missed.

In recognition of Andy’s life and commitment to the game, BAFA’s Competitions Team have asked that all games taking place this weekend hold a minute’s applause before kick-off in his memory.
At the Northampton Knights vs Staffordshire Surge fixture last Sunday, staff, players, and medical personnel responded quickly and professionally to a serious medical emergency. We would like to commend the Northampton Knights and their medical team for their preparedness and swift action in an incredibly difficult situation.
This tragic event also serves as an important reminder to all clubs of the need for thorough medical emergency planning. We strongly encourage every team to regularly review and rehearse their Emergency Action Plans, ensure appropriate medical equipment, including access to an AED, is readily available on the sidelines, and support their medical personnel with the resources they need to respond effectively in an emergency.
Thank you for your support and cooperation this weekend as we come together to remember Andy and reinforce the importance of player, staff, and spectator safety across our sport.
