BAFA is proud to partner with Sports ER Ltd to deliver high-level sports trauma training.

By combining Sports ER’s elite-level clinical expertise with a focus on American football-specific scenarios, we are ensuring medical staff are prepared for the unique, high-impact demands of the gridiron.

We are currently identifying venues across the North, Midlands, and South to ensure these courses are accessible to practitioners nationwide.

2-Day Advanced Certification

This is our flagship program for practitioners looking to master pitch-side emergency care. It is formally endorsed by the Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh).

Target Audience: Physiotherapists, doctors, and allied healthcare professionals with a direct duty of care for athletes.
Key Learning: Master the ability to recognise, assess, and manage acute medical conditions and complex musculoskeletal injuries.
Skill Focus: Beyond clinical workshops, we emphasise “non-technical” skills, such as, leadership, teamwork, and communication, essential for high-pressure environments.
Certification: Participants undergo theory and practical assessments. A ‘Certificate of Competency’ is awarded upon successful completion.
Cost: £495 per person.

Practical Workshops Include:

Initial assessment of the critically ill/injured athlete.
Advanced airway, breathing, and circulatory management.
Trauma care: Spinal, chest, abdominal, pelvic, and femoral injuries.
Sports-related concussion and head/facial injury protocols.
Emergency management of asthma, anaphylaxis, and hypoglycaemia.

1-Day Advanced Refresher Course

For practitioners who have previously completed an ‘advanced’ level course and need to maintain their credentials, Sports ER offer a streamlined one-day refresher. This day has a heavy practical bias with no formal assessment, designed to boost confidence and update skills specific to American Football in line with the latest Resuscitation Council UK and IFSPT standards.

Cost: £250 per person.

To ensure a high standard of instruction, both courses are limited to 12 places on a “first enrolled, first place” basis.
