Great Britain Women were crowned champions of EuroFlag 2025 on Saturday after defeating Austria 34-33 in overtime.

After going ahead in overtime through an Emily Kemp touchdown reception from quarterback Jess Allen, it was Marta Mathews delivering the crucial play as she broke up an Austrian two-point conversion attempt to seal the 34-33 victory.

Allen’s connection with receiver Kemp continued to stand out as Great Britain’s focal piece on offense, with the duo teaming up for two touchdowns and two extra-point plays in the EuroFlag final.

Kemp was named EuroFlag 2025 MVP (Most Valuable Player) as Great Britain Women were crowned champions.

Finding themselves down 13-21 at halftime, Great Britain rallied in the second half as Kemp threw a touchdown to center Kate Bruinvels early on.

Mathews continued her impressive form from recent competitions on both offense and defense, intercepting an Austrian pass and paving the way for Allen to find Grace Conway for a score.

Austria kept pace with the Lions, but with the game at 27-27 it was British defensive back Emma Dedicoat who broke up the extra point attempt and take the game to overtime.

Taking the ball first, Allen sent up a pass deep into Austrian territory which Mathews heroically plucked from the air at the one yard line. Kemp confidently turned the ensuing play into six points on a short pass from Allen. It would then be Conway adding the extra point, lunging across the plane to put GB up 34-27.

Now with the chance to match or outdo the British, Austria quickly scored to bring the game to 34-33. In a huge moment, Austria opted to go for the two-point conversion in hopes of sealing a European championship in one play. It was Mathews, however, who had the final say and batted down the Austrian pass to send the British bench and supporters into elation.
