The Great Britain Women’s Flag Football team continued their winning start to the 2025 World Games in Chengdu, China, beating Group B rivals Japan 26-24.

After impressing in yesterday’s win over Italy, 22-year-old British quarterback Jessica Allen again showed composure beyond her years, throwing four touchdowns against Japan to Grace Conway, Hannah Elliott and Marta Mathews.

Despite trailing, Japan kept pace well throughout the game and it would come down to GB’s two converted extra points, one from Elliott and the other from veteran center and NFL analyst Phoebe Schecter, to steal the win.

Consistent pressure on the quarterback from Great Britain’s blitzer Jochebed Frimpong frustrated the Japanese offense, allowing GB to run out the clock and seal their second World Games victory.

Speaking after the game, Allen reiterated her side’s lofty ambitions at the World Games.

“It’s so much fun being here with the team. We’ve come in with a goal, we’re going to disrupt the world order of women’s flag football.”
