This week the Great Britain Women’s Flag Football team travel to Chengdu, China ahead of The World Games 2025. Here’s everything you need to know ahead of Game One on Thursday 14 August.
What is The World Games?
The World Games is a multi-sport event for sports and disciplines that are not in the programme of the Olympic Games; an international showcase every four years that positions the world’s best athletes at the heart of world sport.
For 2025, approximately 4000 world-class athletes from over 100 countries will compete for gold in 253 medal events.
Flag Football made its debut at The World Games 2022 in Birmingham, Alabama, and will return in Chengdu with the Women’s division only.

Flag Football at The World Games is divided into two groups.
Group A:
USA
Canada
Austria
China
Group B:
Mexico
Japan
Italy

Where do Great Britain stand going into The World Games?
Great Britain Women go into The World Games #5 in IFAF’s 2024 World Rankings; reigning European Champions (2023) and finishing seventh at last year’s World Championships.
Following a training camp in Massachusetts last month, Great Britain announced their 13-player traveling squad for the competition.
When are Great Britain’s games at The World Games?
Game One: Great Britain vs. Italy
Thursday 14 August – 11:20 CST / 04:20 BST
Game Two: Great Britain vs. Japan
Friday 15 August – 09:00 CST / 02:00 BST
Game Three: Great Britain vs. Mexico
Friday 15 August – 15:40 CST / 08:40 BST
