Players from Great Britain’s Women’s Flag Football programme travel to France this weekend to compete as the Silver Lionesses at Capital Bowl.

As preparations continue for this year’s international competition, a selection of players and coaches will make their way to Paris on 5-6 July to face various European opposition in the Women’s Division of Capital Bowl 2025.

With eleven players and three coaches traveling for the tournament, Great Britain Women’s head coach Jack Reed highlights the importance of the experience for the programme’s up and coming players.

“Capital Bowl is a great opportunity for our Silver squad,” Reed said,

“It’s crucial that we give our players as much live game experience as we can, not just to embed everything we work on in training but also to put them up against new opposition and new schemes that they otherwise wouldn’t face.

“We have a really promising group of players heading to Paris, some who have come up through the Great Britain Youth Flag programme and others who are drawing on a great amount of experience from the British leagues and abroad.

“I’m excited to see what the Lionesses can do against some strong opposition from across Europe.”

Reed also notes the significance of assistant coach Meg MacDonald leading a new generation of female coaches in the sport.

“It comes back to experience. We have really smart players, who all have a future in coaching if they want it.

“Representation is really important. It’s important for women and girls to see other women coaching. It’s a point of emphasis that our CEO Chad has made and I agree with it, I look forward to us having more women coaching on our programme.”

The Silver Lionesses are joined in Group A by Les Fraises Flagadas, Redlips, DTB and Snatch Flamingo, while additional British teams will be taking part in the competition including the London Smoke and Bristol Blackbeards in the Mixed Division.
