Great Britain teams confirmed for 2025 European Youth Flag Football Championships

The Great Britain Flag Football programme has confirmed its U15 Mixed, U17 Girls and U17 Boys travelling squads for September’s European Championships in Innsbruck, Austria.

Europe’s brightest young flag football talent will face-off from 3-7 September at Innsbruck’s American Football Zentrum and Sportanlage Wiesengasse.

The Lions will travel to the Alps with high hopes after outstanding performances at the 2024 European Championships in Serbia, where they secured bronze (U17B) and silver (U15X) medals.

Great Britain Project Officer and Youth Team Manager Danika Taylor commented on the significance of the tournament amidst the excitement of flag football’s inclusion at the 2028 Olympic Games.

“For these young athletes, it’s not just a game, it’s a chance to wear the flag with pride, compete against the best in Europe, and take one step closer to the sport’s biggest stage: the Olympic Games,” Taylor said.

“With Flag Football set to debut at LA28, we’re not just preparing for a tournament, we’re building the foundations for Olympic success.”

To support the players preparing to travel and represent Great Britain, the National Programme has set up a JustGiving crowd funder.

“We believe in equity. We want to take the best athletes and volunteers, not just those who can afford it, and we believe that no talented young athlete should be left behind because of finances.
