The Great Britain U17 Contact programme have confirmed an exhibition game against the US-based EXACT International All American programme in July.

The Lions will host a weekend of joint practice and team-building activity at the University of Derby on 12-13 July, culminating in an exhibition game at 13:00 on the Sunday.

The EXACT International All-American Program is “a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for high school athletes to immerse themselves in elite international sports experiences…providing top-tier training, recruitment exposure, and leadership development.”

Looking ahead to the July weekend, Great Britain U17 head coach Michael Davies emphasised the far-reaching benefits of the opportunity.

“This game is a unique opportunity for our players to benchmark themselves against top-tier U.S talent, and to do so on home soil where friends and families can come to watch is just amazing,” Davies said.

“It’s not all about the game day though, over the weekend we will be hosting joint practice sessions where our kids can benefit from US college coaching, and team building activities between the two programmes.
“One of the huge things to take away from this is forging lasting relationships with the players and coaches from across the pond and making this a more frequent event.”

Spectators are welcome to see the Lions in action on Sunday 13 July at the University of Derby. Additional details of the weekend will be published when confirmed.
