The Great Britain Women’s Contact team are set to challenge reigning champions Spain, along with Finland and Germany, in the upcoming 2025/26 IFAF Women’s European Championships.

The tournament will adopt a round-robin format, with the top two teams advancing to the gold medal game in August 2026. The GB Lions will kick off their campaign by hosting Finland on the weekend of August 23/24, 2025, followed by an away game against Spain on October 18, 2025. They will conclude the group stage at home against Germany on the weekend of May 30/31, 2026.

As the 2025/26 European Championships approach, the Great Britain Women’s team is poised to build upon their recent successes and strive for gold against Europe’s elite.

Arguably the pinnacle of success for GB Women came in 2022 with the team’s silver medal performance at the IFAF Women’s World Championships in Finland, where they reached the final for the first time before falling to the USA.

Over the past two years, the team has continued to build on its international reputation, competing at a high level and demonstrating consistency in major tournaments. Their second-place finish in the 2023/24 European Championship showed their ability to remain among the top teams across the continent. The Lions beat Finland 21-14 to claim the silver medal ahead of the Finns on a head-to-head tiebreaker.
