The British American Football Association is pleased to announce the appointment of Jack Reed as the new Head Coach for the Great Britain Women’s Flag Football Team.

Reed, a native of Leominster, Massachusetts and a seasoned coach with an impressive track record in both national and international flag football, steps into the role following the departure of Dean Whittingslow last autumn.

Having served as Offensive Coordinator under Whittingslow, Reed was a pivotal figure in leading the GB Women to gold at the 2023 European Championships in Limerick, where the team posted a stellar 8-1 record with the tournament’s top-ranked offence.

Reed brings a wealth of experience to the role, including a tenure as Head Coach of the Panamá Women’s National Team from 2020 to 2022, where his leadership culminated in a bronze medal at the 2022 World Games in Birmingham, Alabama. His achievements also include guiding youth teams to multiple NFL FLAG National Championships and founding innovative flag football initiatives in the United States.

BAFA Chief Executive Chad Ehlertsen said: “Jack’s appointment comes at a crucial moment for the GB Women’s Flag Football Team. With the World Games in China this August and the European Championships in Paris in September, these events are vital milestones on the road to the LA 2028 Olympics. Jack’s extensive experience and proven success at the international level make him the ideal leader to guide this talented team through the challenges ahead. We’re excited to see the progress he will inspire.”

On accepting the role, Reed shared his enthusiasm for the team’s potential and the journey ahead: “It’s an honour to step into this role and build on the incredible foundation Dean established. Coaching the GB Women has been a highlight of my career, and I’m excited to lead this group of talented athletes as we aim to achieve even greater success on the world stage. With hard work and determination, I’m confident we can continue to raise the bar for GB flag football.”

Jack will lead the team initially up until the end of September 2025, overseeing the team at the World Games in China and European Championships in Paris.
