The Great Britain Women’s team has been ranked fifth in the IFAF Flag Football World Rankings following a strong showing at the World Championships in Finland earlier this year. GB Men meanwhile will begin the four-year Olympic qualifying cycle from a world ranking of 14.

Despite a hard-fought quarterfinal against Japan, where they narrowly missed out on a semifinal spot, the overall performance of GB Women across the year has earned them fifth place in the 2024 global standings behind USA, Mexico, Japan and Austria.

Great Britain men are ranked 14th but will nonetheless be encouraged by their top 10 finish after the World Championships which included being unbeaten the Group stage an impressive victory over Germany, who are ranked fourth in the world. USA, Austria and Mexico hold the top three spots in the men’s game,

Looking ahead, both GB Women and Men will begin a four-year cycle of international fixtures, leading up to the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028. For the women, a key milestone will be the 12th edition of The World Games, set to take place in Chengdu, China, in August 2025.

All nations have an opportunity to improve their ranking when participating in continental competitions. Ranking points are allocated annually from official IFAF tournaments – IFAF World Championships, The World Games, and IFAF Continental Championships.
