Great Britain Men travel to Karlstad this Sunday to take on Sweden in the first round of the 2024/25 IFAF European Tackle Championship.
The Lions will face last year’s fourth-placed Sweden at Sola Arena for a 2pm kick-off (BST) in the first of two European fixtures in quick succession.
Great Britain follow up their trip to Scandinavia with a hotly-anticipated home match-up with Germany at Coventry’s Butts Park Arena on Saturday 19 October. Tickets for the game are available now as the Mane Men continue their hunt for international glory.
Speaking on the squad’s ambition leading into these two Autumn fixtures, kicker and one of Great Britain’s captains Alex Lenkowski said: “It’s been an intense year of preparation leading into these games, it always is.”
“We know our goal and we’re very intent on making sure we give a good account of ourselves by leaving no stone unturned. Everyone is positive, focussed and determined to win.
“There is a lot of experience within the group and we’ve made some strong additions putting us in a solid position to take the next step up.”
Reflecting on the programme’s 2023 win over France at Butts Park Arena, Lenkowski commented on the squad’s excitement to go again in front of a home crowd in Coventry.
He added: “I remember hearing the crowd really start winding up the French and providing them a tough time, we will massively need them to bring the noise and energy for the game against Germany.
“In terms of European Football it doesn’t get much bigger than Germany. We’re facing an incredibly tough task and we will need all the support and energy we can possibly get from the crowd and to make life difficult for the Germans.
“Thanks to the funds raised by the Kickstarter we can make this a huge event for British American Football and enjoyable for everyone who comes down to support us.”
