The Ring of Honour is designed to celebrate and honour individuals who have made significant contributions to the growth of American football in the UK. This year, the GB athletes will serve as flag bearers and form a guard of honour for the inductees -London-born, two-time Super Bowl champion Osi Umenyiora, and five-time Pro Bowler Jared Allen. These legendary players will be celebrated for their impact on the sport both internationally and within the UK.

GB Women’s Defensive Back Ellie Thorpe, who will form part of the ring said: “Being at the London NFL game this weekend is a reminder of how much our sport has grown and the journey we’ve been on together to elevate it globally. The GB Flag football team is honoured to be a part of this movement and with the Los Angeles Olympics approaching, we are working hard to continue growing the game in the UK and make our own imprint on the world stage.”

Chad Ehlertsen, CEO of British American Football Association (BAFA), said: “It’s wonderful that the contributions of British athletes within our sport are being showcased on such a prestigious platform. This is yet another example of the exposure British American Football is now deservedly receiving – helping us to grow the sport at both grassroots and elite levels.

“I make no apology for being totally evangelical about American Football in the UK – about the progress we continue to make and the huge potential that remains untapped. We are working hard to give our GB Flag teams the support and resources they need to train, qualify and compete at LA 28. This represents a huge opportunity, and I am actively seeking to create partnerships with progressive organisations that share our vision for Britball and can help us reach that goal.”
