BAFA is delighted announce the appointment of Rahman Ladak as the new Head of Finance. Ladak – who is already in post – comes onboard at a crucial time with the recent announcement of £250,000 in Sport England Funding to support the organisation over the current financial year.

Rahman has a long-standing association with both forms of American Football – having played Contact Football while at Loughborough University in 2012 and more recently as an exponent of Flag Football, turning out for a local league side, while resident in Toronto before returning to the UK this summer.

But it was his credentials in the world of finance that caught the eye of the BAFA Board. After graduating with an Economics and Accounting degree, he completed his ACA to become a Chartered Accountant and has eight years’ experience in industry and practice.

Rahman – who will be working on a part-time basis and reporting directly to new Chief Executive, Chad Ehlertsen – takes on responsibility for BAFA’s financial planning, reporting and financial controls. In tandem with this, he must oversee the budget and reporting allocated to the landmark funding by Sport England – with comes with very specific spending criteria centred around improving policies, processes, governance and operational support.

He said: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to align my profession with my passion. As a well-run, funded National Governing Body, we will be providing regular reporting back to Sport England who will be monitoring their investment and the impact it makes. In addition to day-to-day of managing the finances of a structured professional body, a key responsibility I have is to keep the board appraised in the budgets at hand and ensure they are spent prudently and aligned with budgetary goals.”
