The recruitment process for a new CEO is reaching its final stages with shortlisted candidates meeting with panels of representatives from the Britball community.
The initial sift was co-ordinated by UK Sport quality assured recruiter Kinsey Sears who screened candidates and created a long-list. Shortlisting and pre-screen to identify candidates for interview was then undertaken by BAFA Chair Nichole McCulloch. This led to the selection of four candidates who were interviewed by two rounds of panelists comprising the following people:
- Round 1 – Nichole McCulloch, Richard Watson (BAFA non-exec director and chair of Safeguarding committee) and a representative from Sport England (our partner support manager)
- Round 2 – Amanda McDonald (BAFA Operations Manager), Wayne Hill (BAFCA president), and Colin Allen (BAFA non-exec director, chair of Sports Science and Medicine Committee and Head of Performance for BAFA).
With two candidates emerging from this process, a third and final round of question panels has taken place across yesterday and today – featuring BAFA members who were invited to put themselves forward. There was a lot of interest in participating in the process, so together two panels of four people from across a variety of roles and with experience across different areas of our sport was set up.
- Panel 1 – Greg Freeman – East Kilbride Pirates, Coach; Jonathan Homer – Manchester Titans, Coach; Marta Bakowska-Mathews – GB Women’s Flag, Player; Tonye Dokubo – BUCS Coordinator and GB Men’s Contact Player.
- Panel 2 – Simon Buckett – London Warriors, Manager / Coach; Pete Jones – Bristol Aztecs/UWE/GB U19, Coach; Louie Saxton – Norwich Devils , Manager / Player / Coach; Paul Labbett – Swansea Hammerheads, Manager/Player/Coach and GB Men’s Flag Team Manager.
These member panels had the opportunity to interview our final two candidates and share their feedback and thoughts with the BAFA board which will contribute to their final decision on the appointment. The BAFA board hopes to make an announcement in the coming fortnight – leading to our new CEO being in post by late Summer.
