East Kilbride Pirates are preparing for a taste of things to come – as they plot a way past the undefeated Leicester Falcons in the NFC Division 1 semi-final this weekend.

The Pirates’ own record of nine-and-one is not far behind that of their hosts, but Head Coach Andrew McGowan recognises that tough examinations such as this will become par-for-the-course should EKP earn the win and are victorious in the Division 1 final a fortnight later.

“As we aspire to return to Prem ball, we look forward to the opportunity to play the best teams we can – we’ve had a number of teams test us already this season and believe this puts us in a great position going into this game,” explained Coach McGowan.

“It’s difficult to gauge the level of competition we face against Leicester, as it will be our first out-of-division game for some time. But we are coming into this game confident in our own abilities to match up with the best Division 1 has to offer.

“EKP have had a very successful season so far and feel all three phases of our game have been performing very well over our last few games.

“Leicester have proven to be a powerhouse in the NFC1 South so we know they will be a tough opponent and we will be preparing accordingly.”
