Earlier in the year, it was announced that the upcoming University Allstar game between the North and South will mark the return of the Great Britain Student Programme across the initial 3-year plan.

However, it is now confirmed that representatives from the NFL International Player Pathway Programme will also be in attendance during each of the practices and trial sessions.

The GB Student American Football Programme now invites all eligible athletes, to apply to attend the Invitational Trials for the 2022 University Allstar Programme in partnership with Football America.

Eligibility Criteria: The following criteria are required to be met;

➔ Students who are currently officially registered as proceeding towards a Level 4
qualification (on the Framework for Higher Education Qualifications in England, Wales and
Northern Ireland) or equivalent or above*
➔ Be a national of the country they represent (therefore hold a full 10-year UK passport)
➔ Be at least 18 and no older than 25 years of age on 31 December of the year of the event
(event will be on in April 2022)

Coaching Staff:

Each Coaching staff will be made up of members from the Great Britain Student
Programme. However, there will be multiple positional and assistant coaching roles available for 2021/22 BUCS Coaches to apply for. Great Britain Students Head Coach Wayne Hill will oversee the Allstar programme with Great Britain Co-ordinators taking on the roles of Allstar Head Coaches Paul Sherratt (North) and Maxwell Petijean (South).
Player Application to trial and subsequent trial invitation process.

Applications to trial: Deadline: Wednesday 15th December 2021

Once all applications are submitted, film, measurables and recommendations, applications will be reviewed by the coaching staff and players will be informed by Monday 20th December if they have been selected to trial.

Trials:

Both Northern and Southern invitational trials will be held on the 8th of January 2022. Trials and Practices will be held at Leeds Carnegie for the North and Brunel University for the South.

Those who are unable to attend the trials may still submit film, which will be considered. However they should contact GBstudentfootball@britishamericanfootball.org upon submitting their film and measurables stating the reasons for not being able to trial.

Trial Fee:

Trials will cost £40 per player, trialists will receive their own stitched tackle twill practice jersey with their choice of size and playing number.

The Process:

All players MUST apply for the Great Britain Student American Football University Allstar Trials. Forms must be completed in full and validated measurables listed.

All applications must be completed by 2pm on Wednesday 15th December 2021 From this, applications will be reviewed and an invitational trial list compiled. Players who will be invited to the trials will be informed by Monday 20th December 2021. Successful players will need to respond to confirm attendance by Wednesday 22nd December 2021. At this point players will be informed of the structure of the trial and respective documentation will be forwarded.

Validated Measurables:

As part of the application process all players will need to supply validated measurable for 4 set exercises, these are:
– 40 yard dash, with 20 yard split time.
– Lateral Shuttle
– 80kg or 100Kg Bench Press max reps (Stop at 25)
– Standing Broad Jump (cm)

Players should also upload highlight film or provide a link to their highlight film. Coaches we would also welcome player breakdown / references. Test results can be validated in one of two ways:

1. Head Coach of University programme sends an email to
GBstudentfootball@britishamericanfootball.org listing all players pre-registering and the results from each of the tests.

2. Players can film tests to visually confirm results. These then can be uploaded directly onto the
application form. Alternatively film can be forwarded with players name and position to: GBstudentfootball@britishamericanfootball.org

Beyond trials:

Those players selected from the Invitational Trial will be called to attend further training sessions through further practice days on the 9th March and 2nd April before culminating in the University Allstar game on Saturday 9th April 2022.
