Latest message from Pete Ackerley

I’m pleased to share some updates with you that move us further forward on our Return to Play journey.

Wales update
With effect from Monday 26 April, organised outdoor activities for up to 30 adults are once again permitted in Wales and guidance for Stage 4 non-contact and Stage 5 modified contact is now available to support our clubs.

This is broadly similar to the guidance already available for England, but I would draw your attention to a key difference: the maximum participant cap per of 30 individuals per half pitch area, including coaches and officials, remains in force throughout Stage 4 and all four steps of Stage 5 in Wales until such time as this limit is revisited by the Welsh Government.

Scotland update
Updated guidance for Scotland is still being finalised with sportscotland, but we anticipate the changes being introduced by the Scottish Government with effect from Monday 26 April will allow us to increase maximum group sizes to 30 and allow contact teams for under 18s to commence modified contact practice.  We thank teams in Scotland for their patience and ask that they continue to adhere to existing approved guidance and permitted activities and numbers in the meantime until the revised guidance is available.

England update
We have once again updated our Stage 4 non-contact and Stage 5 modified contact guidance for England to reflect changes in rules on cross-border travel that come into effect between England and Wales and Scotland from Monday 26 April.

We have also updated information on holding friendly non-contact games to reflect changes in cross-border travel and add information on requesting sanction for game activity involving multiple games and teams. In addition, we have updated our England roadmap graphic to clarify that our guidance permits friendly inter-club non-contact games in Stage 4 for non-contact football.

Please make sure you read the updated version of the guidelines for your format of football.

As always, if you need any additional support or guidance, please reach out to covid-19@britishamericanfootball.org
