American football activity suspended in Wales from 23 Oct – 9 Nov
Monday, October 19, 2020 | Message from Pete Ackerley
Earlier today First Minister Mark Drakeford announced that Wales is bringing in a national coronavirus ‘firebreak’ from 6pm on Friday 23 October through to Monday 9 November. This will apply to everyone living in Wales and will replace the local restrictions which are currently in force in some parts of the country.
In line with this, BAFA are suspending all face-to-face American football activity in Wales during this period. Clubs should revert to Stage 1 on our Return to Play roadmapduring this time.
Mark Drakeford also announced that following the end of the firebreak, a new set of national rules will be introduced in Wales. When these are available, BAFA will review these and consult with Sport Wales to understand the implications for our sport and update accordingly should any further changes to our existing guidance be required.
While this is disappointing news, we ask all clubs in Wales to support and strictly adhere to these new restrictions and we will update you when there is any further news.
Stay safe,
Pete
