Jackson to Step Down as Biscombe Appointed.

Following a recent meeting of the Board of Directors the British American Football Association can confirm that a process of change is underway with regard to the governance structure of the Governing Body.

Over the course of the coming year the make up of the Board of Directors will change from being fully representative of the four constituent sections of operation within the sport (namely officiating, coaching, and competitions – both community and student based) to a model which delivers both representation of our membership and a new skills-based portfolio of Directors who can contribute to the development of the business of BAFA. These Directors will oversee the development of the sport against a new national strategy, the foundation of which was discussed at the aforementioned meeting and which will be made public in due course.

Of the initial changes to the Board of Directors the Board can confirm two.

The first change sees Mel Biscombe replace Matthew Davies as a representative of the National Leagues. This appointment will extend through to the end of the 2012 National Leagues season.

The second change will see Caleb Jackson (pictured) step down as a Director. Jackson, who has represented student football over the course of two seasons, will then take on the lead role of a new competitions management group for student football, embracing each of the student competitions which operate under the auspices of BAFA. Andy Fuller, BAFA Director for Student Football will then appoint a representative from an Athletic Union to work with Caleb to further develop the competitions management group.

BAFA Chairman Gary Marshall said ‘BAFA would like to thank Matthew and Caleb for their commitment to our sport in recent years. They have been tremendous assets to BAFA.’

Marshall also welcomed Mel Biscombe. ‘On behalf of the Board of Directors I would like to welcome Mel to the Board to represent the views of our community members. With her background in Local Authorities Mel brings a valuable skills set to complement our existing Directors.’
